A constructional element for a ceiling above which lighting fittings may be mounted consists of undulating strips 1 arranged with the wave tops adjacent the wave crests of the adjoining strip, the wave tops and wave crests being slotted and the strips interconnected by transverse strips 2 slotted to accommodate a crest and the adjoining wave trough. The whole assembly may be mounted in a frame 4, the sides of which extending in the longitudinal direction may undulate like the strips 1. The strips may be made of thin aluminium. In place of the shape shown, the strips 1 may be bent to form hexagonal or diamond shapes.
