Abstract

An anti-fouling paint comprises, as active ingredient, a halo-quinoxaline derivative of the formula <FORM:1030628/C4-C5/1> where X is halogen, Y is halogen, methyl or methoxy, and m and n are 0, 1 or 2. Many examples are given. The paint may be based on drying oils, rosin, chlorinated rubber, or acrylic, e.g. "Acryloid" F.10, alkyd, e.g. "Beckosol 1334," or vinyl, e.g. "Vinylite" VAGH resin or mixtures of two or more of these, and may also contain other toxic agents such as D.D.T., B.H.C., cuprous oxide and organo-tin compounds.ALSO:An anti-fouling paint comprises, as active ingredient, a halo-quinoxaline derivative of the formula <PICT:1030628/C3/1> where X is halogen, Y is halogen, methyl or methoxy, and m and n are 0, 1 or 2. Many examples are given. The paint may be based on drying oils, rosin, chlorinated rubber, or acrylic, e.g. "Acryloid" F.10, alkyd, e.g. "Beckosol 1334," or vinyl, e.g. "Vinylite" VAGH resin or mixtures of two or more of these, and may also contain other toxic agents such as D.D.T., B.H.C., cuprous oxide and organotin compounds and conventional ingredients, e.g. TiO2, ZnO, linseed oil, naphtha, phthalocyanine dyes, talc, MEK, and xylene.
