In a machine for dividing and twisting sausages, which includes means for holding and advancing filled casings, said means being automatically controlled in dependence on the twisting motion of the machine, the holding means consists of a U-section trough for the filled casing and a pad, actuable to hold the casing stationary in the trough whilst twisting is being effected, in combination with the trough.
