Abstract

The invention comprises a mixture of compounds of the formula:- <FORM:1028811/C4-C5/1> where Pc is a phthalocyanine radical, R1 is hydrogen, alkyl or hydroxyalkyl, R2 is alkyl or hydroxyalkyl, Y is alkylene, arylene, halogenoarylene, alkyl - arylene, alkoxy - arylene or aralkylene, the above alkyl, alkoxy and hydroxyalkyl groups containing 1 to 4 carbon atoms, X is chlorine or bromine, Z is chlorine, bromine, amino or substituted amino and a and b are individually 1 or 2, provided a+b does not exceed 3, possibly together with minor amounts of compounds of the above formula where a or b is 0, in such proportions as to give apparent values of a in the range 0.5 to 2 and of b in the range 0.5 to 1.5. The mixtures are made by reacting cyanuric chloride or bromide with a mixture of compounds of the formula:- <FORM:1028811/C4-C5/2> or in either order with (a) the said compound and (b) ammonia or an organic primary or secondary amine. The dyes colour wool, silk, leather polyamides and polyacrylonitrile but particularly cellulose textile materials in conjunction with a treatment with an acid-binding agent.
