Abstract

1,028,448. Dispensing containers. UNITED STATES BORAX & CHEMICAL CORPORATION. Feb. 17, 1965 [March 23, 1964], No. 6924/65. Heading B8T. In a dispensing container a laterally elongated cap 12 is rotatably supported on a shoulder 17, defining the filling orifice of a container, by means of lips 31, 32 which engage in helical slots 18, 19 each of approximately 90 degrees arcuate length. An elliptical dispensing orifice 15 is sealed by a like protuberance 29 on the cap brought into and out of engagement by revolving the cap. In a second embodiment the cap is supported by means of an outwardly projecting annular ridge thereon riding in a circular groove formed internally of the orifice defining shoulder, the resiliency of the cap being relied upon to hold a plug depending from the cap in sealed engagement with the orifice 15 when the cap is in a closed position midway between open positions defined by stops. The container and cap may be of polyethylene or polypropylene, or a plastics cap may be used with a plastics-coated glass container.
