Heading G3R. In a system for controlling the pressure of a flash steam boiler during starting the control system has a proportional action plus a temperature variable integral action which reduces as the working fluid changes from the water to steam phase. As shown the output pressure of boiler 2 is sensed at P and compared with a standard S. The error signal is amplified at 8 to control a servomotor 9 regulating a value 7 in the recirculation circuit. The movement of the valve is sensed at 14 and fed back through two parallel circuits 17, 16 providing a proportional signal and one that decays with time whereby the regulator action approximates to "proportional and integral". The time-variable feed-back signal is varied by a temperature sensing device T so that it vanishes above a certain temperature.
