Abstract

1,028,130. Electrostatic precipitator. METALLGESELLSCHAFT A.G. Feb. 25, 1965 [Feb. 27, 1964], No. 8198/65. Heading B2J. . Insulators 4 for the internal equipment 2 of an electrostatic precipitator are mounted in frames 8 which are suspended from the top 10 of a roof beam 6 so as to be vertically movable relative thereto, the roof beam, which acts as a support for the internal equipment, being liable to bend where the precipitator is in operation. The equipment 2 is suspended from the insulators 4 by rods 3 and antideposit skirts 5 prevent dust from being whirled into the insulators. The frames 8 are suspended by screw means 9 from the top 10 of the roof beam and are guided when raised or lowered by rods 11 and skirts 15, Fig. 2 (not shown). A wire 12 stretched across the roof beam provides a level datum. Sighting marks 13 at the upper ends of the screw means 9 permit any deflection of the beam and consequent lowering of the insulators to be detected. When this occurs, nuts 14 are turned and the frames raised until the lighting marks are in register with the wire 12. Alternatively, changes in level may be detected by tube water level indicators or detectors of the photographic, ultrasonic or electrical beam type. Automatic means may be provided for lifting or lowering the frames under the control of electrical regulating means.
