Abstract

1,027,971. Pipe couplings. BORG-WARNER CORPORATION. April 7, 1964 [April 19, 1963], No. 14308/64. Heading F2G. A connection for a flexible tube 12 having a flared portion 17 includes a resilient gasket 16 and a fitting 14 which is screwed into a member 18, the latter having a bore 22 for reception of the tube, gasket and fitting. The bore 22 terminates in a shoulder adapted to serve as a stop for the end of the tubing and the member 18, tube and fitting 14, when assembled provide a cavity 26 of predetermined volume for accommodating the gasket under a predetermined load to form a seal between the tube and member 18. The member 18 and fitting 14 have complementary shoulders 32, 30 to limit insertion of the fitting into the bore 22. A bush may be inserted in the member 14.
