Abstract

1,027,712. Moulding fluorocarbons; seaming. BTR INDUSTRIES Ltd. Sept. 17, 1964 [June 21, 1963], No. 24734/63. Headings B5A and B5K. A method of securing together two bodies of polytetrafluoroethylene comprises the steps of supporting the bodies spaced apart a small distance, filling the space with compacted unsintered polytetrafluoroethylene or fluorinated ethylene propylene powder and then heating the powder to above the sintering temperature. As described, the invention is applied to the securing together of two sleeves 5 and 6 of P.T.F.E. lining the outside and inside of a steel pipe 7 by filling the space 2 with the powder to be sintered.
