Abstract

102,677. Fullard, W. May 4, 1916. Cooking and drying stoves; air-heating stoves.-An apparatus for drying vegetables, fruits, &c., and for baking, roasting, and cooking foods and other articles, consists of an oven 1 with a travelling or other movable support 4 therein, and means, such as pipes 6, 7, whereby hot air is directed upon opposite sides of the articles or materials under treatment. Fig. 2 shows an apparatus with an endless band conveyer 4 of gauze or the like moving on drums 2, 3 and between the pipes 6, 7, which are perforated so as to discharge hot air as shown. The materials are introduced through an inlet 10, and may be cut up by a knife 20 pivoted at one side of the hopper 19 and vibrated by an eccentric at the other side of the apparatus. In a modification, the endless band conveyer 4 is replaced by a reciprocating sliding tray moved by a crank-shaft and connecting rods. The hot air is supplied from a heater, Fig. 4, consisting of a casing 13, a coil 12, and a burner 14. The air is supplied to the coil by a fan 14. A modified air-heater, Fig. 9, comprises a chamber 35 above the air-heating coil 12*. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 832/69.
