Abstract

1,026,605. Loading mine cars. W. H. BARKER & SON (ENGINEERS) Ltd. Oct. 7, 1964 [Oct. 16, 1963], No. 40800/63. Heading B8E. A train of mine cars 15 is loaded with material which passes from a continuously driven conveyer 11 down a fixed shoot 10 and a movable shoot 12 on to a conveyer 14 which discharges into a shoot 17. When a car is situated beneath the shoot 17, the conveyer 14 is driven and the shoot 12 occupies the dashed-line position in which it forms a continuation of the shoot 10. When the car is fully loaded, a closure gate 18 pivoted to the shoot 17, is closed by a ram 19, the conveyer 14 is stopped, and the shoot 12 is retracted to the chain-line position by a ram 16 allowing material from the shoot 10 to collect on the conveyer 14. When the loaded car is replaced by an empty car, the gate 18 is opened, the conveyer 14 is restarted and the shoot 12 is returned to its initial position. The shoot 12 may alternatively be pivoted to the shoot 10, Fig. 2 (not shown), or mounted thereon for telescopic withdrawal.
