1,026,343. Fuel injection pumps. JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES), Ltd. Jan. 31, 1963 [Feb. 19, 1962], No. 6268/62. Heading F1A. In a swash plate type pump of the type in which a rotary cylinder block engages a ported valve plate, the force due to the hydraulic pressure acting on shoulders around the cylinder ports remote from the valve plate is greater than the combination of the force tending to separate the block from the valve plate and that produced by hydraulic pressure acting on a shoulder formed on the valve plate remote from the rotor, and the axial thrust of the block is visited by a thrust bearing in the pump housing.
