Abstract

1,026,004. Pin-and-socket joints. AUTOMOTIVE PRODUCTS CO., Ltd. March 17, 1965 [April 8, 1964], No. 14567/64. Heading E2F. Two split bearing members of nylon, polyurethane or an acetal resin 19, 21, interposed between the pin 14 and socket 10 of a pin-andsocket joint, each have a straight tapered surface and a cylindrical surface to mate with corresponding surfaces on the pin and the socket or its closure member 22. A compression spring 24 acts between the bearing member 21 and the pin 14 through a washer 25 to press the bearings into contact with both the pin and the socket and prevent both radial and axial play. The joint offers some resistance to movement which is desirable in the steering linkages to which it is applied.
