Abstract
1,025,980. Transistor frequency changing circuits. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. Oct. 11, 1963 [Oct. 11, 1962], No. 40197/63. Heading H3T. [Also in Division H2] In an arrangement in which a high frequency F is shifted a small amount f to give frequencies (F+f) or (F-f) a phase-shifting circuit 101 is used to derive from the frequency F an output of this frequency and two further outputs respectively shifted 120 and 240 degrees in phase. The three outputs are limited in amplitude by limiters 107-109 and each forms one input of modulators 103, 104, 105 respectively. The second inputs of the modulators are derived from a phase-shifting circuit 102A which produces from the frequency f an output of the same frequency and two further outputs respectively shifted 120 and 240 degrees in phase. The modulators 103-105 may be of the transistor choppertype and their outputs are fed to fillers 110- 112 which suppress components of frequency f and harmonics of frequency of the order 2F and higher. The outputs of the filters 110- 112 are combined in an adding network 106, it being shown in the Specification that the output on line 14 comprises only the desired sum or difference frequency, i.e. (F+f) or (F-f) according to the manner in which the phase-shifted signals are combined in the modulators 103-105.
