1,025,946. Swimming pools. A. MEYER. Feb. 11, 1963 [March 15, 1962], No. 5476/63. Heading A4N. The edges of a swimming pool cover, consists of buoyant longitudinally rigid slats 1, overlie ledges or hand rails 7 on either side of the pool so that the weight of a person accidentally falling on the cover will be borne on the ledges 7 and cause only a slight displacement of the cover below the water surface. In order to use the pool, the cover is retracted into a compartment which is flooded to a constant level to suport the entire weight of the roll. As the cover is rolled up, by rotating sprocket device 9, debris may be washed off by water sprays in the compartment. The roll compartment may be dry and may be provided on the pool surround. The slats 1 may be of wood or of extruded polyvinyl chloride, polyethylene or polypropylene of tubular section (Figs. 4a-5b, not shown).
