Abstract

A process for the curing of rubbery copolymers of mono-olefins with unsaturated bridged-ring hydrocarbons comprises heating in the presence of a carbon black having a structure index not greater than 90, in the absence of an anti-oxidant, and using an organic peroxide and sulphur as curing agents. Optional ingredients are zinc or lead oxide, dikenzoyl quinone dioxime, stearic acid, tetramethylthiuram disulphide and/or tellurium diethyl dithiocarbamate. The products find application as shoe-soles, oil-seals, and linings for pipes and tanks.
