Abstract

1,023,850. Electric incandescent lamps. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. Nov. 15, 1963 [Nov. 19, 1962], No. 45210/63. Heading H1F. A small quantity, e.g. of the order of 10<SP>-3</SP>mg. or less per sq. cm. of bulb surface, of phosphorus is introduced into a tungsten-iodine lamp. The phosphorus may be introduced by coating the filament with a suspension of phosphorus nitride or tungsten phosphide or by heating the filaments in phosphorus vapour. A volatile phosphorus compound, e.g. hydrogen phosphide, may be introduced into the lamp.
