[Also in Division B3] In a nuclear reactor pressure vessel the standpipe 4 is fixed in the vessel wall 1 by means of the sleeve 2. The standpipe and the sleeve are welded together at 5, 6, inside the vessel. As the weld is subjected to the high operating temperatures inside the vessel, stress relief is not required. Irradiation effects on the weld are annealed out at the operating temperatures.
