Abstract

1,021,649. Temporary roadways; bridges. W. W. PLEASANTS. Dec. 4, 1964, No. 49326/64. Heading E1G. Overpass units 11, for taking road traffic over an intersection, are suspended from a ground supported framework 10 and have approach ramps 12. The framework 10 comprises two semicircular beam members pinjointed at the crown and resting through hinge joints on flat plates bearing on pavement clear of the roadways. The units 11 and ramps 12 are substantially similar and comprise transversely corrugated troughing with upwardly inclined kerb plates at the sides, the whole having a top surfacing of road material. Guard rails, secured to the troughing, form anchorages for ropes which suspend the units from the framework 10 and the pairs of ramps from frames 168 resting on the road surface.
