A body particularly for a racing car comprises substantially D-section tubular longitudinals preferably stepped at 2 interconnected by transverse bearers 5, 10, 11, 12 and 8, and a floor panel 14. Fuel tanks 3 are also secured in position to contribute to structural stiffness. The engine secured rigidly to the bearers 16 also acts as a stiffener.
