Abstract

In the distillation of petroleum crudes the yield of gas oil is increased by combining the atmospheric gas oil with at least part of the atmospheric residue and redistilling. In one embodiment the residue is vacuum flashed and the front 10-40% wt. combined with the gas oil and vacuum distilled in a reboiled column. Alternatively the whole residue is combined with the gas oil and vacuum flashed in a tower containing fractionating trays.
