Abstract

1,018,462. Crimping gears. MONSANTO CO. July 12, 1962 [July 21,1961], No. 26874/62. Headings D1F and D1W. A gear for crimping a filament or yarn comprises a hub 16 having a plurality of spaced slots 17,with teeth 21 positioned in the slots and having lugs 23, 24 at each end, and a pair of end plates 27, 28, secured to the hub, with flanges 31 32 overlapping the lugs to hold the teeth in the slots, the radial length of the teeth, varying uniformily around the gear Fig. 3 (not shown) to form crimps with corresponding variation of size Fig. 4 (not shown). In use the gear is paired with a gear having teeth, all of the same radial length.
