Abstract
1,014,905. Colour television tubes. RADIO CORPORATION OF AMERICA. June 12, 1963 [July 6, 1962], No. 23464/63. Heading H1D. In a method of manufacturing a multi-dot phosphor screen for a three-gun shadow-mask colour television tube by a photographic method involving for the laying down of each colour phosphor exposure of a photosensitive layer containing phosphor material to a light beam through the apertures of the mask, the light source is positioned to expose the screen areas not through the associated mask apertures through which the electron beam will pass but through adjacent mask apertures or through mask apertures farther removed, thus making the light rays which print the dots of the same dot triad convergent at the screen surface instead of divergent, in order to correct for " degrouping misregister " of the beam spots e.g. 95, Fig. 6, with respect to the phosphor dots 92 with radial deflection and simultaneously applied dynamic convergence of the electron beams. An optical refractive member 130, Fig. 10, comprising a single or two contoured elements 131, 132, the lower of which, 132, is wedge-shaped is interposed between the light source 121, 122 and the mask 15 to correct " radial " and " foreshortening misregister." Additionally, the spacing between mask and screen is less at the edge of the screen than at the centre. A detailed manufacturing procedure is given.
