Abstract

1,014,799. Moulding polyethylene powder SOLVAY & CIE. Sept. 24, 1964 [Sept. 24' 1963], No. 38960/64. Heading B5A. [Also in Division F4] High molecular weight (e.g. above 106) polyethylene powder is moulded by preheating it to a temperature above its crystalline melting point, to render it amorphous, and then hot pressing the heated powder at a temperature below said crystalline melting point. The powders may be preheated in a rotary kiln or in a fluidized bed.
