Abstract

1,014,718. Adjustable mountings. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. July 10, 1964 [July 15, 1963], No. 28573/64. Heading G2A. A plate (e.g. a perforated diaphragm) is mounted between two sections of a housing rotatable relative to each other, one section having a pin which engages in a slot in the plate, so that said rotating movement causes the plate itself to pivot and so bring different parts of it into register with an opening in one of the housing sections. The form shown is a diaphragm for use in optical apparatus. The housing has two shallow cylindrical parts 10, 11, a rim of one fitting over a flange of the other, so that they can turn relative to each other. Pins 16, 17 are secured in the lower and upper housing parts respectively, which parts also have coincident openings 14, 13. Within the housing is the diaphragm plate 18, of approximately elliptical shape, having two circular apertures 21, 22 of different sizes. The plate has slots 19, 20 at its ends, which slots fit slidingly over the pins 16, 17. If part 11 is turned relative to part 10, pin 17 carries plate 18 round so that it pivots on pin 16. Conversely, turning part 10 causes the plate to pivot on pin 17. Thus either aperture 21, 22 can be brought into a greater or lesser degree of registration with the central openings 13, 14.
