Abstract

Dyes according to the parent Specification in which the group -N+R1.R2.R3 is a group of the formula <FORM:1013231/C4-C5/1> are employed to dye textile materials, e.g. of cellulose. In the example the trisodium salt of 2 - anilino - 4 - (21 - methylisoindolinium - 21 -) - [711 - (o - sulphophenylazo) - 811 - hydroxy - 311:611 - disulphonaphth - 111 - ylamino] - 1:3:5-triazine is prepared by reacting N-methylisoindoline with the appropriate chloro-triazinyl compound.ALSO:Textile materials, e.g. of cellulose, are coloured by treating with a dyestuff containing a group of the formula -A-Z wherein A is O, S or NY where Y is A or an alkyl or cycloalkyl which may be substituted and Z is a heterocyclic ring containing at least one -N = C = group attached to A through a C atom of the heterocycle and which carries attached to a carbon atom or atoms of the heterocycle at least one group of the formula <FORM:1013231/D1-D2/1> The dyes may be formed in situ in the dyebath or print paste by adding N-methylisoindoline and the corresponding reactive dye containing a labile halogen or labile group attached to the teterocycle or the dyes may be formed on the fibre by treatment with the N-methylisoindoline and dye simultaneously or in either sequence. Examples of dyeing cotton are given.
