[Also in Divisions B3 and E1] In producing a decorative plate, patterns are embossed or impressed into a surface of a perforated plate. An embossing tool, Fig. 5a, with teeth of circular, square, triangular or rhomboidal cross-section may be used, producing depressions 3 the pitch t 2 of which is so related to that of t 1 of the holes 2 that a.t 1 = b.t 2 , a and b being whole numbers the difference between which is 3 at the most. A similar pitchdifference is produced lengthwise of the metal plate by different feeds for the perforating and embossing stages. It is stated that the different pitches produce undulations in the plate.
