[Also in Division B6] A device for checking answers comprises an answer card a and a check card e, relatively slidable with the left edge of the card a along one of the lines 1. The card a is marked with two columns of squares b, c, squares b being marked with question signs I-XX and squares c being empty to receive answer code signs, and is also marked with an index line d. Card e is marked with one or more sets of two columns, the right-hand column or columns f being marked with answer code signs 10-69, and the left-hand column or columns g with correct answer signs R and reference signs i, which are all numerals 1-6 and each placed below an R (or alternatively to the right of an R as at k). Questions I-XX are provided each with a plurality of alternative specimen answers, each having an answer sign. The questions must be answered in sequence, each one correctly before passing to the next. The selected answer sign for question I is inserted in the adjacent square c and the card a slid until index d is aligned with said sign in column f. Only if the correct answer has been chosen is the sign (23) written in column c on line I aligned with a sign R and a reference sign i aligned with question sign II. The sign i is written in square c on line II and followed with the selected answer sign (5) for question II, and the process repeated for each question. Thus the alternative answers given have a single-figure answer sign, except for the first question, the answers to which have a two-digit code sign comprising the reference sign and the answer sign.
