Abstract

1,012,105. Injection moulding. H. LUDWIG. Jan. 8, 1964 [July 9, 1963], No. 857/64. Heading B5A. A method of injection moulding a sole of synthetic resin or rubber on to an upper 16 with an intermediate sole 24 and/or a heel filling member 25 comprises the following stages:-(i) the base 17 of the mould is first raised by means of a piston 28 to press the sole 24 and/or heel filling member 25 into cementing contact with the upper 16 on a last 12; (ii) by introducing a greater pressure into a cylinder 29 above the piston 28 the base 17 is lowered and material injected through a passage 19 to form the shoe sole; (iii) when sufficient material has been injected the base 17 moves downwardly against spring 45 and actuates a switch 46 and solenoid 22 to close a valve 21 in the injection nozzle; (iv) the upper part 30 of the cylinder 29 is then connected to atmosphere and pressure in the lower part 31 moves the base upwardly to press the injected sole 23 against the upper.
