A motor vehicle strut-type suspension comprises a self-levelling hydraulic damper unit 1 connected by a conduit 6 to a gas spring 7 located alongside the unit, the cylinder 4 of the unit being resiliently mounted in the sprung part of the vehicle and the piston 2 of the unit being connected to an extension 3 of the hub carrier below the wheel centre.
