Abstract
1,011,709. Fluid actuation of switches. CONTROLS COMPANY OF AMERICA. May 24, 1963, No. 20744/63. Heading H2B. In a switch of the type wherein the operating pressure is set by a cam 54 acting on a spring 46 loading the diaphragm 20 and in which the contacts are reset each time the adjustment is changed from one depression 52 to another, means are provided to prevent completion of resetting and operation of the switch if the cam is inadvertently left between settings. Diaphragm 20 acts through a stud 28 on tongue 32 of a snap-action change-over switch 34 and between settings of cam 54 one of the lobes 58 lifts the plunger 48 causing projection 49 thereon to return the stud 28. This would normally reset the switch but a U-shaped member 62 is also lifted by plunger 48 (via spring 66) so that its arms 72 engage the switch blade 34 and hold it in an intermediate condition (Fig. 3, not shown) until the plunger 48 reverts to a position determined by a depression 52. The spring 66 allows for overtravel of plunger 48.
