Abstract

The formation of dust is reduced during pneumatic stowing in mines by mixing a dustbinding material with the material to be stowed, the dust-binding material being a watercontaining slimy or glutinous material in the state of a gel or in a sufficiently liquid state to be capable of forming drops. The dust-binding material may be sprayed on to the material being stowed during its passage to the pneumatic stowing machine, or it may be injected into the machine or into the blast pipe of the machine.
