Abstract

1,010,722. Scissors. D. CERCONE. Oct. 20, 1964 [Oct. 21, 1963; Dec. 13, 1963], No. 42702/64. Heading B4B. Scissors for haircutting comprise a blade, the cutting edge of which is co-operable with the serrated edge of the other blade to produce a thinning effect, the arrangement being such that successive co-operating points along the blade edges lie on an irregular or curved line. As shown in Fig. 1, cutting edge of blade 4 has co-operable therewith irregular teeth 8 of blade 6. In a modification, the teeth are arranged in a concave curve. In another modification, Fig. 3, the teeth 12 of blade 10 are arranged in a straight line and co-operate with the concave arcuate portions of blade 16. The ends 14 of the teeth are concave. The blades are biased to an opening angle of 30 degrees by a spring 20. Handle 24 has attached thereto a rod 26 which passes through an aperture 28 in handle 22 and a groove 30 in the rod is engaged by a slidable catch 32 to lock the blades in the closed position. In another modification, the arcuate portions of the blade 16 are convex. In a further modification, the blades are detachable from the handles.
