Abstract
1,010,510. Waveguides. TELEFUNKEN PATENT VERWERTUNGS-G.m.b.H. June 29, 1962 [June 30, 1961], No. 25081/62. Heading H1W. A hollow waveguide for the transmission of planepolarized waves is of elliptical section and is of flexible corrugated construction, whereby it may be wound on a drum. The waveguide 1 is associated with input and output sections 3, 7 made from lengths of square or circular waveguide and joined to the main waveguide by transistion sections 5, 9 which may either be of the stepped or continuous type. Input and output probes 2, 6 are orientated to launch and receive waves polarized perpendicularly to the major axis of the main elliptical section. Members 4, 8 of dissipative material prevent the generation of circularly-polarized modes. The input and output means may be coupled directly to the elliptical waveguide and may themselves consist of waveguides.
