1,010,249. Eyepieces for spectacle frames or a monocle. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. March 2, 1964 [March 5, 1963], No. 8702/64. Heading G2J. A pair of spectacles or a monocle has a field of vision for at least one eye which field is divided into portions at least one of which is provided with a magnifying lens system, and a deflecting system for bending the light path through up to 35 degrees. In the embodiment shown, the magnifier is a Galilean telescope system 7, 8 and the deflector a prism 9. In another embodiment the deflector is a prism so shaped as to "concertina" up the light path as well as bend it over all as described above so that the depth of the combined optical system is decreased. In the embodiment shown in Fig. 4 the eyepiece optical systems are mounted in housings 22, 21, slidable on an arcuate front piece 20 to adjust for different interocular distances of different weaves.
