Abstract

1,009,085. Zinc, cadmium and lead aminomercaptans. EASTMAN KODAK CO. Dec. 28, 1961 [Dec. 30, 1960], No. 46529/61. Heading C2C. [Also in Division G2] The invention consists of, per se, aminomercaptan metal salts of the formula wherein R is an aminoalkyl group in which the alkyl residue has 1 to 4 carbon atoms, M is divalent zinc, cadmium or lead, X is an acid anion, and preferably where the amino portion is substituted by one or two, up to C 3 alkyl groups, or wherein the amino nitrogen is the nitrogen atom of a morpholine ring, and in particular 2-diethylaminoethanethiol zinc acetate, 2 - dimethylaminoethanethiol zinc chloride, 2 - ethylaminoethanethiol zinc acetate, 2 - diethylaminoethanethiol cadmium acetate, 2 - di - isopropylaminoethanethiol zinc acetate, which are made by mixing equimolar portions of the corresponding aminomercaptan and a salt of the metal in aqueous or alcoholic solution and heating to 60‹ to 120‹ C., preferably removing the liberated acid by distillation. In the Examples, which include the preparations of the individual salts specified above, details of the preparation of zinc hydrochloride and acetate complex of morpholinoethane thiol are included.
