Abstract
100,882. Perry Signal Co., (Assignees of Perry, J. C.) July 15, 1915, [Convention date]. Road traffic signals on vehicles; semaphore signals. - An automobile signalling - device, for indicating the driver's intention to turn or stop, comprises a signalling - member, preferably in the form of a perforated disk 16 painted red, pivoted at 14 to hang below a casing 10, and having a curved and slotted arm 23 within the casing engaged by a ball-shaped enlargement 22 on the end of the pivoted armature 20 of an electro-magnet 17. When the magnet is energized by closing its circuit at a switch 18 conveniently placed on the steering-wheel 19, the enlargement 22 swings the member 16 to the signalling position, indicated in dotted lines, the movement being limited by a spring-blade stop 25. For night use, the electromagnet and member 16 are thrown out of use, and a lamp 27 is brought into use by means of a switch 28. The lamp is visible to the rear of the vehicle through a glazed door 29. The lamp globe and interior wall of the casing 10 may be coloured red. The device is shown as clamped at 11 to the side of the wind-screen.
