[Also in Heading A4] In suction cleaner apparatus in which a suction unit 1, Fig. 1, is mounted on a rigid closed container 13, a nozzle 3, Fig. 3, directs an air stream through a Venturi 10 to create a vacuum in a removable filter bag 17 and the container carries a suction inlet 15 which leads directly into the filter bag. In a modification the Venturi throat has a divergent exit section and a wire mesh type diffuser/silencer 26 may be fitted to the outlet end 6. Liquids may be drawn into the container when the filter bag is removed.
