Abstract

In the synthesis of diamond, the necessary temperature and pressure conditions for obtaining a diamond crystal are produced by the absorption of energy supplied by a laser beam converging on a glass plate containing graphite inclusions. The plate is positioned in the focal plane of an optical system through which the laser beam passes so that a graphite inclusion is situated at the focal point of the optical system.
