Abstract

1,008,101. Electrographic developer. RANK-XEROX Ltd. April 10,1962 [April 14, 1961], No. 13760/62. Heading G2H. An electrographic developer comprises a developer liquid dispersed in droplets in an electrically insulating carrier liquid. The carrier liquid, preferably has a resistivity of at least 10<SP>13</SP> ohm-cm and may comprise a refined petroleum hydrocarbon solvent with about 0.1% by weight of a non-ionic emulsifier such as sorbitan fatty acid ester, or a silicon liquid. The developer liquid may contain a dissolved dye or a suspended pigment and dissolved resins or waxes in a liquified condition. The developer liquid itself may be water, an aqueous solution, a monohydric alcohol such as amyl alcohol, a polyhydric alcohol such as ethylene glycol, a ketone such as acetone, an aldehyde such as acetaldehyde or an ester such as ethyl acetate. The dye may be crystal violet or malachite green. Specifications 755,486, U.S.A. 2,899,335, and 2,913,353 are referred to.
