Abstract

1,007,630. Vaporization of liquids. COMMISSARIAT A L'ENERGIE ATOMIQUE. June 30, 1964 [July 30, 1963], No. 27021/64. Heading B1B. A liquid such as hydrogen fluoride (HF) n is vaporized, and the vapours are depolymerized, in an apparatus comprising a doublewalled vessel 1 the top of which is connected by conduit 5 to a coil 6, means for the forced circulation of a heating-liquid over the outer surface of the coil and through the double-wall of vessel I, and a Venturi 19 at the vapourdischarge end of the coil. As shown, coil 6 is surrounded by box 7 ; and the heating-liquid is circulated by pump 10 around the cycle comprising box 7, pipe 9, the double-wall of vessel 1, pipe 8, and back to box 7. The apparatus is surrounded by a layer 18 of heatinsulating material. In the case of hydrogen fluoride, the heating-liquid, e.g. paraffin oil, is maintained at 120 ‹C. +2 ‹C. by electrical heating element 15 regulated by thermometer probe 16. The apparatus may be made of copper. Reference is made to the vaporization of the following compounds: B 4 H 10 , BCl 3 , HCN, BrF 5 , CS 2 , MoF 6 .
