Abstract

1,007,442. Fuel injection pumps. USTAV PROVYZKUM MOTOROVYCH VOZIDEL. Dec. 13, 1963 [Dec. 28, 1962], No. 49361/63. Heading F1A. In a fuel injection pump comprising a rotating distributor 7 and opposed plungers 5, the stroke of the plungers is varied by means of a regulating member 13 having a forked end which is moved axially on a drive shaft 8 by means of governor weights 11 acting on a spring loaded flange member 19. The ends of the fork are tapered internally and bear on cam followers 3 which limit the outward stroke of the pistons 5. A manually operable fork 32 is connected to a sleeve 26 which is moved for starting purposes, so as to force the weights 11 outwardly, thereby moving the member 13 to allow maximum stroke of the pistons 5. A second fork 44 acts on a regulating sleeve 12 to vary the compression of the governor springs. This fork contacts an adjustable abutment at idling speed. In an alternative embodiment the first fork is directly connected to the centrifugal weight cage.
