Abstract

A vulcanization acclerator composition suitable for use with chloroprene polymers comprises by weight, one part of thiocarbanilide and 0.2 to 5 parts of 1,3-diphenyl quanidine and/or di-o-tolylguanidine, the amount of thiocarbanilide and the amount of 1,3-diphenyl-guanidine and/or 1,3-di-o-tolylguanidine each being from 0.2 to 5 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of chloroprene polymer. The vulcanizing agent is usually a metal oxide. Conventional anti-oxidants, fillers, peptizing agents and colours may be added. The ingredients of the accelerator composition may be added to the latex, separately or may be admixed in advance. The accelerator composition may also be used in vulcanizing dry chloroprene polymers.
