Abstract

<PICT:1006246/C1/1> Glassware 21 are carried in the holders 20 of wheel 12 which rotates about horizontal axis 13, and are discharged one by one therefrom by means of suction chuck 40 so that each glassware 21 is deposited on surface 75 for removal therefrom. Chuck 40 is carried by arms 22, 23 also pivoted at 13 for oscillatory movement therearound. The movement of the arms in oscillatory manner is effected in the anticlockwise direction by wheel 12, the arms being coupled thereto at 48, and in the clockwise direction by fluid cylinder 27. The chuck 40 has two other movements. A rotary movement about axis 42 effected by fluid cylinder 44 operating via rack 45 and gear 43, and a longitudinal movement effected by fluid cylinder 30. The fluid cylinders are coupled in a fluid circuit governed by the actuation of valves by the rotation of wheel 12. Operation of discharge chuck 40.-A valve is operated by the rotation of wheel 12 to energize fluid cylinders 48 to effect a coupling of the arms 22, 23 with the wheel as the latter rotates anticlockwise. The pair of arms is thus moving anticlockwise about axis 13. Cylinder 44 is actuated to rotate chuck 40 about axis 42 till it is facing a holder 20. The chuck is then moved longitudinally in a radial direction towards a holder 20 by the operation of cylinder 30 and as it engages a glassware 21 in a holder 20 suction is applied so that the glassware is grasped from the holder. The chuck holding the glassware is then moved outwards in a radial direction by the reverse movement of cylinder 30, and is then given a rotatory movement in the opposite direction by cylinder 44. In the meantime arms 22 and 23 are being caused to rotate anticlockwise, being locked with wheel 12, the chuck now being in the position shown ready for discharge of the glassware. When chuck 40 approaches surface 75 suction is cut off to release the glassware on to the surface. Cylinders 48 are actuated to release the arms 22, 23 from engagement with the rotating wheel 12 so that the arms are ready for their return movement in the clockwise direction under the impulsion of cylinder 27. The arms are now ready for the next cycle of operation. Specification 1,006,245 is referred to.
