Abstract
1,002,246. Mineral-mining machines. GEWERKSCHAFT EISENHUTTE WESTFALIA. March 9, 1964 [March 8, 1963], No. 9805/64. Heading E1F. A conical cutter drum 15, 16 of a longwall mining machine is so arranged on the machine that the generatrise of the drum at the upper periphery of the drum extends at or parallel to the roof of the seam being mined so that the drum cuts out in the upper part of the seam a zone having a downwardly and outwardly inclined lower surface 18 down over which mined mineral slides onto a face conveyer. A sloping upper surface 19 of the machine and guide plates 20 ensure spillage being directed onto a face conveyer 11. The drum may consist of two frusto-conical portions 15, 16 which may be rotated at differing relative speeds. Roof-sensing means may control the actuating means of the parallelogram linkage 13 that permits of the machine body mounted thereon being vertically adjustable with respect to the face conveyer along which the parallelogram linkage is slidable.
