Abstract
1,001,127. Filters for liquids. SPARKER MFG. CO. March 21, 1963 [March 26, 1962], No. 11222/63. Heading B1D. Filter elements 12 each extend across the top of an inverted-conical unit 10. After deposition of cakes 14 from liquid introduced at 13, filtrate outlet pipe 9, to which the units are secured, is rotated. At the same time, washing liquid supplied at 19 is distributed by a header 20, having apertures 28, to remove the cakes. To enable the apparatus to be used for more than one thickness of filter cake, and more than one washing pressure, the pipe 19 is accommodated in an eccentric opening 24 in a plate 22 secured to a boss 15 having a much larger, central, bore 16. The position of opening 24, (and hence of wash inlet pipe 19 and header 20) relative to filter units 12, may be any one of six, depending upon the angular orientation of plate 22, which is secured to boss 15 by six bolts 25. The header 20 can be restored to upright position (after angular adjustment of plate 22) or moved towards or away from the axis of casing 1, by slackening packing nut 23. On header 20, angularlyadjustable nozzles may be provided.
