Abstract

1,000,646. Tipping hoppers. HOOVER BALL and BEARING CO. June 7, 1963 [June 13, 1962], No. 22891/63. Headings B8E and B8S. When a bin 12, Fig. 5, of the type shown in Specification 674,091, is to be discharged it is placed in a cradle 64 by a lifting device and allowed to tilt about a pivot 60, Fig. 4, under its own weight against the restraint of an hydraulic ram 70. After the contents have been discharged, the cradle is returned to the position shown in Fig. 5 by the ram 70 which is supplied with fluid by a pump and motor 86. A discharge door 28, Fig. 4, permits the contents to discharge through a portable hopper unit 30 which has a shoot 34 and is clamped to the bin by clamps 36. The cradle is held in the raised position by closing a valve in the hydraulic circuit between the ram and the pump.
