Abstract

Copper oxamide or oxanilide is used as a heat stabilizer in conventional organopolysiloxane elastomer-forming compositions, which can be cured at ambient temperatures by the use of cross-linking agents such as a methylhydrogensiloxane, an alkyl orthosilicate or an alkyl polysilicate, and curing agents, usually a metal salt of an organic acid or a metal oxide, or by the use of organic peroxides and heat. The siloxanes specified may contain alkyl, aminoalkyl, fluoroalkyl, aryl, aminoaryl, fluoroaryl or alkenyl radicals. Other ingredients specified are: fillers-silicas (fume, precipitated and aerogels) with or without diatomaceous earth, clays, TiO2, CaCO3 or ZnSiO4; liquid siloxanes-dimethy -and methylhydrogen-polysiloxanes; structure control additives-1 : 2-dimethyl-1 : 2-diethylethylene glycol, diphenylsilanediol, (tetramethylethylenedioxy) dimethylsilane, and many others; and pigments-TiO2 and Fe2O3. Two examples are given.
