Abstract

A chair with a tubular frame 3 including substantially parallel, non planar ground engaging elements which permit tilting of the chair, a footrest extending between the ground engaging elements, a pivotal back support and a seat 19. The seat 19 may be attached to the frame by engagement of an elongate member 17 in a socket 18 to allow horizontal movement and may include laterally extending rows of projections 41 or teeth formed on the underside of the seat 19 to hinder movement of the seat 19 and to hold it in position. The chair may be of particular use to pupils or students in a classroom and the arrangement also facilitates convenient storage of it through stacking.
