Description
The present invention relates to a light emitting system. The subject of the invention relates to the technical field of light emitting devices using a light-emitting diode (abbreviated as DEL in French, or LED, from English: light-emitting diode) of high power and it targets more precisely the devices ensuring the coupling of the light emitted by the diode, into an optical fiber bundle or a strand of optical fibers.
The present invention finds particularly advantageous applications in areas where high light power is required to provide lighting or signaling functions, for example in the automotive field.
It is known to use a lighting module comprising a first sub-assembly composed of a strand of optical fibers and a ferrule and a second sub-assembly composed of a coupler and a light-emitting diode including the light faces the strand of optical fibers.
There is axial play between the first subassembly and the second subassembly (i.e. between the coupler and the ferrule). This axial play causes light losses of between 10 to 15%. It is necessary to have a system guaranteeing the minimum amount of play.
According to an exemplary embodiment, there is an additional part to ensure assembly with minimum clearance.
However, the state-of-the-art examples of implementation do not provide a technical solution to ensure effective coupling without loss of the light emitted by the light-emitting diode in a beam forming part of a device subjected to vibrations.
The present invention aims to remedy these drawbacks with a completely innovative approach.
More precisely, the invention aims to provide a new light emitting diode light emission system, designed to allow precise, simple and durable mounting over time, of the optical coupling element relative to a beam at optical fiber, while ensuring effective support to maximize the amount of light from the light-emitting diode.
In particular, an objective of the invention is to provide such a technique making it possible to dispense with any other complex adjustment system in several parts.
These objectives, as well as others which will appear subsequently, are achieved, according to a first aspect, using a light emission system comprising:
- a light emitting device using an emitting diode fixed on a support positioned in a cover and whose light is configured to be recovered by an optical fiber beam, the light emitting device comprises a housing provided of a positioning system for an optical coupling element having a ferrule in which the optical fiber bundle is positioned and held inside said optical coupling element, an outlet surface of which opens into a well for receiving the facing coupling of the emitting diode,
remarkable in that the optical coupling element is formed of two half-shells, each half-shell comprises a double clip exerting a holding force configured to keep the ferrule in contact with each half-shell.
Thanks to these arrangements, each assembled half shell allows for an integral part which forms a single coupler. This arrangement provides a holding force for the ferrule on the cutter to avoid axial play, which ensures play-free holding. In this way, the loss of light diffusion is avoided. Assembly is also simplified.
The invention is advantageously implemented according to the embodiments and the variants set out below, which are to be considered individually or according to any technically effective combination.
In one embodiment, the optical coupling element comprises a shoulder on which the ferrule is inserted.
In one embodiment, the light emitting device is placed in contact with a heat dissipation shell.
In one embodiment, each clip has an angled face configured to hold the ferrule in position.
In one embodiment, the inclined face of each clip is inclined in a direction between 70 and 100° relative to the normal straight line of the point of contact between each clip and the ferrule.
Other advantages, aims and characteristics of the present invention emerge from the description which follows, given for explanatory and in no way limiting purposes, with reference to the appended drawings, in which:

Two half-shells 22 and 23 are shown which form an optical coupling element.
When assembled, the optical coupling element is formed by two half-shells 22 and 23 which contain inside the ferrule and the bundle of optical fibers 20.
La force de déclipage est entre 30 et 50N.The two half-shells have two clips or a double clip at one end which ensure a holding force on the ferrule while avoiding axial play. If the system is subjected to vibrations, the axial play is zero because the holding force keeps the ferrule in its position. The unclipping force is between 30 and 50N.
The shape of the clips makes it possible to compensate for production dispersions of the ferrules, and thereby guarantee zero play between coupler and ferrule.
One face at the end of each clip is angled to provide holding force.
A support is also visible which includes an emitting diode 24.
The housing 27, the emitting diode 24, the support 26 or PCB (printed circuit board) as well as the cover 25 are also shown.
In this figure, it is shown that the clips exert a pressure force on the ferrule.
The two half-shells form a shoulder on which the ferrule is positioned abutting. This location cannot have any axial play to ensure proper diffusion of light.
Les deux demi-coques forment un coupleur. The two half-shells form a coupler.
The two half-shells 22, 23 are metallized (mirror coating) in order to reflect light effectively.
The materials can be for example PC (for polycarbonate), ABS (for acrylonitrile butadiene styrene), or Polyamide.
The possible variation of the clipping allows on the one hand to ensure the function of holding the ferrule and on the other hand allows the insertion of the ferrule into the coupler or into the two half-shells.
Chaque clip permet d'avoir une certaine flexibilité.Each clip allows for some flexibility.
When the ferrule is inserted, each clip exerts a pressure force on the ferrule.
The angle α is approximately 45°. In other words, the inclined face of each clip is inclined in a direction between 70 and 100°, preferably 90° (represented by a double arrow), relative to the normal line N of the point of contact between each clip and the ferrule .
